2017 Tech Camp: Eligibility & Application Information

Who should apply to Tech Camp?

Are you a rising sophomore or junior in high school? Do you have an interest in learning how things work? Are you generally inquisitive about the world around you? Would you like to have an opportunity to apply the math and science skills you’ve learned in the classroom? Does spending a summer working with UCLA undergraduates on an engineering design, build, and test project in our brand new Student Creativity Center sound exciting? Would you like to gain a competitive edge on your peers in getting a “taste” for the world of engineering by participating in a university recognized engineering summer program? If you’ve answered yes to these questions then Tech Camp is for you!


You possess a genuine interest in learning more about engineering. You are ready to apply your math and science skills on an engineering project challenge. You are a rising sophomore or junior in high school. You are earning at least a 2.5 cumulative GPA (unweighted).


$3000 | 4 week Tech Camp program
including project materials, Tech Camp t-shirt, and Program Finale.
Tuition scholarships covering the Tech Camp tuition is available for low-income applicants!

Apply for these scholarships by completing a Tech Camp Tuition Assistance application (link).  There are unfortunately no scholarships for housing.


$2500 | On-campus housing (optional)
UCLA Housing in an on-campus dorm is available for Tech Camp participants. Unfortunately, there is no subsidy for housing costs. Please contact the Tech Camp program manager for information on non-UCLA housing in the local area. More information about housing can be found on the Frequently Asked Questions page.

3. Unofficial Transcripts

Upload your unofficial transcripts to expedite review of your application.  Instructions on how to do this is on our application site.  You will still need to have your official transcripts mailed to our office.

You MUST have an official copy of your transcripts mailed to Tech Camp. We encourage applicants to request their transcripts early to account time for processing and mailing. Please have your official transcript mailed to:

5. Letter of Recommendation

Tech Camp Tuition Assistance Application Form

Low-income students may elect to apply for financial assistance to cover the $3500 Tech Camp tuition. Those wishing to be considered for this award must complete the Tech Camp Tuition Assistance application and submit all necessary documentation.

  • Please follow all directions provided on the document.
  • A copy of a government signed letter or document verifying your current participation in a government assistance program must be included with this application.
  • Email your completed form to: .

Timeline & Process (after submitting your application):

  • If you are invited to participate in Tech Camp, you will be responsible for submitting the completed forms which will be sent along with the notification email and a minimum down-payment of at least 1/2 the registration fees ($1500) acknowledging participation in Tech Camp 2017 within one week of notification.
  • The remaining balance of $1500 will be due no later than June 2, 2017 to confirm your spot in Tech Camp.
  • All applicants will be contacted by April 2017 regarding their application status.
  • Those receiving a Tech Camp Tuition Award scholarship will only need to submit their completed forms within one week of notification.

Payment Method

Tech Camp only accepts personal checks. Unfortunately we are not set-up to receive cash or credit card payment.

Do not mail checks to Tech Camp prior to receiving an invitation to participate. A payment form will be provided to you in your award package.
